MOSS Bug Mysites: The evaluation version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for this server has expired

Today, I got the following error message when browsing to the mySites:

The evaluation version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for this server has expired

Altough i was able to add new sites, site Collections, administrate MOSS and things, this message continued to show up while trying to browse the mySites. I found the following solution:

  • Open up the registry editor and find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0 collection.
  • Add read permissions for the WSS_WPG and Full permissions for WSS_ADMIN_WPG.

et voila: problem solved!

Thank you, worked perfect.  Just not sure why it happened in the first place.

I tried following the steps mentioned in your blog, but observed that I already have read permissions for the WSS_WPG and Full permissions for WSS_ADMIN_WPG set for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0

I had the same problem.

It may be related to that bug that was in the first version of 2007 Microsoft Office servers sp2.

Try this

support.microsoft.com/.../971620

I installed the update, rebooted and it's now fine.

This happened to me after a 'Repair' of my MOSS install using the setup disc. Followed these instructions and my issue is resolved. Thanks!

This was already set on my server, I actually found that making an alteration to the web.config file and doing iisreset gets it to work for a while - my suspician is that the gatherer is knocking some flag each pass.
