First steps into BAM
Mon, Mar 29 2004 8:44 PM
Without any proper documentation for BizTalk available yet, I decided to post a article called “Your first steps into Business Activity Monitoring”. A good read for anyone interested in BAM and wanting to start using it right now. You can find the article here.
Great server-side RSS-Reader: BlogLines
Sat, Mar 27 2004 4:56 PM

Being on a different computer two or three times a day at least, I just got sick of synchronising the blogs I like to read and having to dig through articles I have already read on another computer. But not anymore. I discovered Bloglines. One of the problably many serverside RSS-Readers. It appeared a little buggy when I started using it, but that was because the UI is not really intuitive. But if you step over that, you get exactly the functionality you want. I especially like the option to save an article to a seperate folder. Great to store those posts that you like to reference again and again and for those great posts that you want to read but just don't have the time at that moment for.

New webcasts on BizTalk announced
Sat, Mar 27 2004 4:46 PM
I like the agenda. A great mix of sessions on basic stuff and new features. I will surely watch the BAM and HWS sessions and problably also InfoPath session. See this article on Scott Woodgate's blog for more info.
Early BAM experiences
Tue, Mar 23 2004 8:58 AM
I started using Business Activity Monitoring (or BAM for short) in BizTalk 2004 in a Proof Of Concept project and I must say that I'm pretty impressed with it. There is of course a big lack of documentation, but that is a generic BizTalk problem. My generic feeling is that BAM is great way to define the information you want to track and report. But at some points it also feels like a first release and misses some well-wanted functionality. I will try to post as much interesting info I found in the next couple of days.
InfoPath forms in BizTalk BASSite don't work well with Internet Enhanced Security enabled
Thu, Mar 18 2004 12:22 PM

I tried to add a partner profile in the BASSite with the InfoPath form. When I tried to create a Global Port, I had to select a pipeline. When I tried to do that, I got an access denied message. The error number I got was -2148074254.

After checking the web log I discovered that InfoPath didn't try to authenticate. It turned out that it didn't do that because it tried to reach the webservice over http://<servername> which wasn't part of my Local Intranet configuration.

I solved by adding this site to local intranet. Another way to solve it is to remove Internet Enhanced Security and then check the “include local address“ checkbox.

Can I run a marathon?
Sat, Mar 13 2004 7:38 PM
I've picked up the idea some time ago to run a marathon. I know, I know, a computer nerd should not get serious about sports, but I thought it would some achievement ;-). Anybody interested can follow my advancements in the running category on my site. I won't include the posts in any of the aggregate views to keep the technical focus of my blog.

Release dates of Whidbey and Yukon announced?
Wed, Mar 10 2004 8:58 PM

I found an announcement here that Whidbey and Yukon will be final in the first half of 2005, but no official link. I hope the betas hit use soon, because next year is over 9 months away :-(.

Update: eWeek also published about it here.

Longhorn Concept Video's
Wed, Mar 10 2004 8:51 PM

A new Longhorn Concept Video was published here today. The concept video's show how complex business processes would be supported using Longhorn technology. These videos almost seem to show a perfect world and give you this “yeah, that's the way it should work” feeling. Cool stuff, but I just can't image that this would be common practice, not even when Longhorn is final. What do you think?

Introduction
Tue, Mar 9 2004 9:27 AM

Starting with my own blog (thnx Dennis for introducing me),. I will kick off with a little introduction of myself.

I'm a pure Microsoft-developer that has specialised in Microsoft Server Technology over the past years. I've worked with Commerce Server, Content Management Server, SharePoint Portal Server, .NET Framework and SQL Server.

I'm very enthousiastic about the upcoming technologies presented at the last PDC, in particular Longhorn, Yukon and Whidbey. I have several Virtual PC images running with them and started of programming against them.
