May has passed on me like a wirlwind. I enjoyed a brilliant two-week vacation in Italy, visiting a large part of my family I have over there. Very good, but not in the interest of most of you.
Professionally, I'm in the dying parts of two projects, getting the stuff done. Nothing really fancy, so I don't have a lot to blog about.
I have been busy though. I've been reading on software factories, playing with IBF, thinking about WSE2.
The thing I find the most interesting the last two weeks is the development around Identities. Kim Cameron has published the Laws of Identity, a set of 7 rules. Any system that targets to provide a Digital Identity should comply with these rules to have a change to be successful.
One of the consequences of the laws is that no manufacturer should try to dominate the identity space, but instead a identity metasystem should allow plugging of identity parts both from a consumer as from a provider perspective. Microsoft published their vision for a identity metasystem. What's particularly interesting for a geek like me is the core use of WS-* standards, with WS-Security, WS-Trust and WS-MetadataExchange in the center. If this vision becomes reality, authentication and profile management on the internet can really be taken to the next level.
