While everybody hoped Microsoft would build some AJAX-support in .NET 2.0, it has come clear that it won't. But Microsoft did announce Atlas, a framework that utilizes javascript in the browser to create dynamic experiences. A preview will be shown at the PDC later this year. Details can be found

Scott Guthries blog. Promising stuff. I have used Ajax in a small solution recently and was impressed by it's power.
