When you create a public facing website using SharePoint 2007, visitors will see the following message if the presence functionality is activated:
This Web site wants to run the following add-on: 'Name ActiveX Control' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the Web site and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here…

Clicking on the message will prompt a visitor whether or not to run this control:

If the ActiveX control has been run, presence information of the visitor's communication applications such as Live Messenger and Office Communicator is send to the SharePoint website. In Office Communicator this presence information is your available/busy/away/offline status:

The security message can confuse your website visitors. If you don't use the presence functionality on your SharePoint website, disable it! To remove the Name ActiveX Control, see Microsoft's Support website: Message in the Information bar in Internet Explorer 7 when you browse to a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site or to a SharePoint Server 2007 site: "The Web site wants to run the following add-on: 'Name ActiveX Control'"
