may webcasts review 01

Not having set a particularly clear goal when I announced my intention to review webcasts on ASP.NET 2.0 I thought I would set the record straight now.  I'm looking for a fairly good overview of the landscape that is ASP.NET 2.0 that's deep enough that I could get going on my own and not be left feeling like I sat through another "less code" marketing blitz.

I decided to start with Fritz Onion's Essential ASP.NET webcast series that was delivered last summer.  This 15 part series is an updated version of his 1.0 Essential ASP.NET webcast series that pretty much followed his book.  While I didn't watch the 1.0 series of his webcasts I did think his book, Essential ASP.NET With Examples in C#, was one of the best books I'd read on ASP.NET.  So this seemed as good a place as any to start.

Essential ASP.NET for the Web Developer (Part 1 of 15): Introduction to ASP.NET 2.0 (Level 200)
Verdict: Skip It.
Details: Just what it says, introduction and overview to the series and dives very briefly into ASP.NET 2.0.  If you've not had your head under a rock you've seen and heard most of this by now.  In all fairness, I know it's an introduction and it was originally broadcast in August, months before RTM.  I'll stick with the series though and see how it goes; some things are out of date (the whole web projects thing in SP1, for example).
