I wanted to ask a question about your blog post: BizTalk in the Cloud, One Step Closer Part 2 but it seems that comments have been disabled for that post already.

Do you have any idea why the MessageReceiver outputs gibberish when reading from the queue? Is it something to do with the way the MessageSender encodes the XML file? Also, do you know if it is possible to deserialize the body of the message into a class that represents SourceSchema?

Thanks

Hin

I must admit I struggled with using the term 'synchronous processing' but decided to use that anyway because orchestration doesn't include asynchronous queuing.

This post is focussed on the ESB aspects and because I'm aiming for the BizTalk audience, I decided to focus on that distinction.

re: BizTalk Server and the ESB SOA design pattern

Hi Jean-Paul,

As Policy centralization is an optional part of the ESB pattern, I would expect that you can still call Biztalk an ESB in the context of your blog post.

A question I have is why you call orchestration "synchronous processing"; because orchestration happens to be very good at asynchronous activities: the process is initiated and after that runs on its own (centrally managed, centrally hosted, independent execution). Of course there can be times when there's need to synchronize with ie. user interaction or other parts of the service inventory (or outside thereof) but generally speaking, no-one is waiting for the process execution....

Regards,

Roger
