i had to choose between interesting sessions on the same time so this is my chance to see them anyway.

Don’t forget to look out for the post conference DVD that will be mailed to you approximately four weeks after the conference.  This DVD will include all the final conference session PowerPoint presentations, Windows Media files of the most popular sessions, Self-Paced Hands-on Labs manuals, sponsor & exhibitor information and video & photographic highlights of TechEd 2004 Europe.

Are we all just running behind the ball and missing our goal?

The session of Bill O'Brien 'Patterns of the Enterprise' was very nice.
Not heard much new actually. but he had very good story.

Among other things he told the following about SOA:
First there was Client Server
Then came Thin client
And after that Distributed components
And now SOA.

You know that 10 year old soccer players. 20 children running behind the ball on the football field. And they are so busy with running behind the ball that they forget what their target was.
I've got the feeling it's the same with SOA, he said.

I cannot agree totally with him. But looking at the amount of sessions about SOA on this TechEd it is a little bit overhyping at the moment. But i think we cannot ignore it. It is just coming and with Longhorn it will take a real big step i think. Till then we have to live with wat is available for making SOA architectures.

Another great thing in his story:
Are we developing just Buzzword Compliant Architectures or what ?

How do you think about it ? Are we all just running behind the ball and missing our goal?
