Windows 7 midi

My midi hardware it working nice in my DAW home studio but today I noticed that I do not have the ability to change the default midi out device in Windows 7. After googling around it seems that this was also the case in Windows Vista. But luckily there are options to configure the default out device!

The first that I found was the Windows Vista MIDI Mapper control panel and minutes later the Vista MIDI fix. The control panel application fixed my problem but only lists hardware midi stuff like my MIDI USB keyboards and the hardware midi output of my Creative card as the Vista MIDI fix application lists more midi out options but I haven' not tested those yet.

Both applications run without any problems here on my Windows 7 RC x64 installation.

Many thanks,

I don't see the midi mapper on windows 7. Is this in the control panel? It's not there for me. Also Sonar 8.x doesn't see midi mapper device or the Microsoft GS Synthesizer either but in FLStudio 8 I see my usb midi, midi mapper, microsoft GS synthesizer but I don't know how to configure them in windows 7.

Please help

Hey folks,

Having a problem with midi in Reason 4 and Cubase 5. Running Win 7. It was working fine, no problem but recently I get a message saying the midi driver is in use by another application (message is in Reason) and I have no midi signal being received. I had a look around and a few people seem to think the only fix is to reinstall Win 7...seems a bit drastic. Anyone any similar issues and would the above links help? In work at the moment so can't check. Thanks, soundcloud.com/bearbones-1

I don't know anything about the mac. This tool is specifically for Vista/7 because the midi configuration has been changed in behavior.
