Next Prediction: Google Chrome will gain a lot of market share

At time of writing the market share of Safari and Google Chrome is around 5% each.

Firefox is around 30% and the rest is IE and Opera and some other browsers with a small market share.

The rising stars

Safari’s market share has risen quite fast.
From around 3% in June 2009 to 5% around January 2010

Chrome did it’s thing even faster.
Going from 0,5% in mid 2008 to 5.5% around January 2010

Off course Firefox has also been increasing in market share but not by as much.

Going from 20% in mid 2008 to 25% around January 2010

Firefox’s market share is off course a lot larger then that of Safari / Chrome.

But it’s growth is slowing down and I think it will stop growing soon I think.

The why they will keep rising

Safari is the default browser for Macs and also the default browser for iPhones, iPads and it’s also available on windows.

Apple is a premium brand at the moment, most of the hardware products coming out of Apple are sexy and that will probably help pushing Safari a little bit on other platforms.

Chrome on the other hand has something else pushing it, Google is putting quite a bit of muscle behind it. It has been doing ad campaigns it’s been putting advertisements on Gmail to migrate people away from IE and will probably be doing a lot more of this.

Google is also a company people respect and it’s a brand which inspires confidence.

Google won’t stop pushing it’s browser, because it makes sense for them to get as many people on the internet using it a lot more internet applications watching more videos online etc etc.

This is because their main business is selling ads and their main brand is internet search.

The best way to push these things is getting the web surfing experience as good as possible.

Google is also putting out 2 OS’es Android and Chrome OS, which might also provide a larger market share for it’s browser.

Conclusion

Together the current market share of Safari / Chrome is now around 10 – 11% I think in 2 years this will be at least 30%

This market share will probably be coming out of Firefox’s market share.

Together with market share from IE6.

Firefox is my default browser and the add-ons make it even more powerful then it already is. I thought that it would be nice to share which extensions I'm using:

NoScript - Easily enable java/javascript/flash per domain.
Adblock Plus - Hide those frustrating flash ads etc.
ChatZilla - Open an IRC link to ask a tech question in seconds.
Firebug - Tweak your html, JavaScript and CSS at run-time.
YSlow - Measure the load times of the website your developing.
FoxyProxy - Easily switch between proxy servers or automatically per domain.
Web Developer - Show the lay-out of a website with/without CSS and w3c validate it in seconds.
Foxmarks - Synchronizes all my bookmarks between various computers at work and at home.

The best thing is is that most add-ons work perfect in both Linux and Windows so I have the same surf experience in both worlds.

So which add-ons do you recommend?

Always thought that if someone combined IE engine and the reach interface and feartures of Firefox that will be great.. so i looked everyware.. for this kind of software.. i tried Avant Browser didn't do it for me.. nor Opera.

I even thought about writing my own browser.. it should be very easy.

but couple of weeks ago i found about Maxthon which was great, neat, great interface... and much more.. very flixable and customizable, many programmable features as well.

I tried it those couple of weeks and i didn't have to open IE or FF ever since.

now go guys try the Maxthon2 Beta4 that what i'm using now.

Maxthon - The new Firefox / Internet Explorer Killer

Ok it's been a while since I last bloggged but I couldn't let this one pass by.

I've been a faithfull user of the maxthon browser for quite some time now, It's a tabbed browser shell based on the Trident / IE engine. Which brings a lot of extra's to the IE world which weren't previously available to IE or even Firefox.
Note: The Gecko / Firefox rendering engine will be supported in the 2.0 final release.

What I didn't know about the browser that it already has a lot of following in China (30% market share)

And it's about to gain steam in the rest of the world since there will finally be some promotions done about the browser, which offcourse means this browsing gem will be more public quite soon.

A lot of web developers have switched browsers from IE to FireFox which is a bit overhyped at times :)

Anyway to demonstrate some of the features of firefox there has recently been made available a video of some of Maxthons many features.
